India Strongly Opposes China: China’s increasing steps in the border area have once again increased India’s problems. China’s move to create two new counties in Hotan province has raised concerns among Indian officials. Foreign affairs expert, Robinder Sachdeva said that China is increasing its steps in Aksai Chin area by adopting administrative system. This growing step includes the creation of two new counties in China’s Hotan province.
Robinder Sachdeva, while talking to news agency ANI on Friday (January 3, 2025), emphasized that China’s actions are not to improve relations with India, but it wants to continue the conflict. He said that China is increasing its hold in the Aksai Chin area and is gradually trying to increase its presence there. There are already seven counties in Hotan and now two more have been created.
‘China is in no mood to improve relations’
Sachdeva further said that every county will have its own administrative capital. China is increasing its hold and infrastructure. These actions of China indicate that it is in no mood to improve its relations with India. At the same time, India’s stance towards China is that India wants to keep this conflict stable. Especially China’s proposed dam project in Yarlung Tsangpo River (Brahmaputra River) is a matter of concern for India.
Disadvantages of the proposed project on Brahmaputra river
Sachdeva said that India is extremely concerned about the proposed project on the ‘Brahmaputra River’. Due to this project, the amount of water available for drinking and irrigation in India may reduce. He further said that the cost of this dam could be 140 US dollars. It is so big that its size can create many problems for India.
“Never accepted ‘illegal’ Chinese occupation.”
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry also strongly opposed China on the establishment of two new counties in Hotan province. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that we have seen the announcement related to the establishment of two new counties in Hotan province of China. India has never accepted ‘illegal’ Chinese occupation in this area. He further said that the creation of the new counties will neither affect India’s long-term and continuing position regarding sovereignty over the area nor legitimize China’s ‘illegal and forcible occupation’.
