Yemen citizen arrested for making rifle parts in Gujarat

Gujarat News: A 36-year-old Yemeni citizen has been arrested with parts of AK-47 and other assault rifles. The parts were allegedly made by a Yemeni citizen from an engineering company in Gujarat. The police gave this information on Friday.

Arrested after secret information

Acting on a tip-off, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested the accused Abdul Aziz Al Ajani from a hotel here on February 9 and recovered assault rifle parts from him, an official said. Police also recovered a gas block, a front sight, short barrel and other mechanical parts of various types of assault rifles, including AK-47, from his possession, he said.

About 150 wax molds and four die were recovered

The crime branch has recovered around 150 wax molds and four dies from two companies located in Kathwara area of ​​GIDC, Ahmedabad, the official said. According to the official, preliminary investigation shows that the accused is a resident of Al-Baidah City in Yemen and does labor and farming. According to a statement issued by the Crime Branch, in view of the demand for assault rifles in Yemen, Munir Mohamed had proposed to commission Abdul Aziz on acquiring these parts from India.

The accused came to Mumbai for the treatment of his father and after treatment the father was sent back and after that he came to Ahmedabad. Coming here, he had contacted a company called DK Engineering to make parts die. The metal die was prepared and given to him by DK Engineering as per the design and measurements provided by Aziz, the statement said.

Accused sent to custody for seven days

It then approached two other manufacturing firms in the Kathwara GIDC area and ordered them to make a variety of parts from the die. The accused person had said that these parts would be used in industrial machines. The local court has sent the accused to police custody for seven days, the official said. A case has been registered in this connection under the Arms Act.
