Who is Richard Alpert

When Richard came to India for the first time in 1967, he was an assistant professor of psychology at Harvard University, England. He was studying the effects of the hallucinogenic chemicals and lethal drugs LSD and psilocybin. He himself used to consume LSD for study and he also got addicted to it. But he also had an attachment towards spirituality. Richard had come to Baba’s shelter in search of how to create harmony between intoxication and spirituality.

When Baba ate the pills

Ramdas has written in his book that when he had met Baba, he could not tell him this even if he wanted to. During this, he met Baba many times. Finally one day Baba himself asked him where is that medicine? On this Richard was shocked that which medicine. But at the behest of Baba, he brought intoxicated LSD pills. Richard says that one tablet of this was too much for an adult person. But Baba ate three pills kept in the bottle and it did not affect him.

After this meeting with Baba, Richard went to America and returned to Baba’s ashram after four years. But even then he had a doubt that Baba might not have eaten those pills but might have thrown them away or spit them out. When Richard met Baba again, Baba again asked for LSD pills and Richard gave him four pills, which Baba showed him and ate them one by one by putting them on his tongue. This time also these bullets had no effect on Baba.

Actually, after consuming these pills, Baba wanted to answer the questions going on in Richard’s mind that nothing has kept him intoxicated. If you want to get intoxicated, then get intoxicated with spirituality and social service. Because there is no greater intoxication than this.

How to become Professor Richard Alpert Ramdas

It was as if Richard’s life was lost due to this message of Baba. Richard took initiation from Baba and after that Baba himself gave the name of Ramdas to Richard Alpert. After this, Ramdas started social service through organizations named Hanuman Foundation and Seva Foundation and dedicated his life to spiritual education.

Ramdas wrote many books which became famous all over the world.
