‘Will protect constitution’, Bengal Governor said on violence, TMC said- BJP worker’s…


West Bengal Panchayat Election Violence: Violence has taken place at many places during the nomination for the Panchayat elections in West Bengal. Governor CV Anand Bose visited the affected areas in South 24 Parganas district on Saturday (June 17). They said, “I myself came here and visited the violence affected area, listened to the people. I am distressed by what happened.”

The Governor of West Bengal further said, “This is not tolerable at all. The Calcutta High Court has given a decision to take some steps to ensure free and fair elections.” As a governor, I also have some responsibilities, I and all of us have to protect the constitution. Unfortunately, in some areas I have seen a decline in the level of democracy. I stand here with the people. Harassment, threats and violence will not be toleratedSing.”

What did TMC say about the Governor?

TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh said about the governor’s visit to the violence-affected areas.He (Governor) is behaving like a member of BJP. I respect his position, but if the governor tries to establish what is being said by BJP, CPI(M), Congress and ISF for TMC, we will protest.”

“Violence will not be tolerated”

earlier in the day On panchayat polls, Governor Bose had told PTI, “People should not hold back from exercising their democratic franchise just because there are some law-breakers here. Law-breakers will have to be brought to justice. Timely action needs to be taken against them.” He said, “He will work for the health and welfare of the people of Bengal. Political violence will not be tolerated in the state.”

Uproar during nomination for Panchayat elections

Significantly, Panchayat elections are to be held in West Bengal on July 8. For which there has been violence at various places during the filing of nominations. In this violence, so far five people have died and many people have been injured in the violence.
