Atul Subhash case: In the AI engineer Atul Subhash suicide case in Bengaluru, accused wife Nikita Singhania and her family have applied for bail in the court. In this case, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday (31 December 2024) directed the lower court to take a decision on the bail plea of Nikita Singhania on 4 January 2025.
High Court gave instructions to Atul’s father
According to the report of The Hindu, the High Court directed Atul’s father Vikas Kumar Modi to inform the Supreme Court, where Atul’s mother has filed a petition demanding the custody of her minor grandson. Nikita Singhania is currently in judicial custody in Bengaluru in the case of instigating Atul Subhash to commit suicide.
Bail petition postponed till January 4
Karnataka High Court has passed an interim order on Nikita’s petition. In her petition, Nikita has raised questions on her arrest and the case of abetment to suicide. Nikita’s lawyer Bharat Kumar V says that the arrest in this case is illegal, hence she should be granted interim bail. He has argued that now he has to present his side in the Nikita case before the Supreme Court, because Atul’s mother has filed a petition there for the custody of the child. He said that the court has postponed the hearing on the bail plea of Nikita and other accused till January 4.
Atul’s lawyer Akash Jindal has appealed to the lower court that Nikita should not get bail in the name of his son. She can use the child as a weapon to get bail. He should not be allowed to do this. He said, “Atul had released the video before committing suicide saying that Nikita could use the child as a weapon to escape the judicial process and now the same is happening.”
