New Parliament Inauguration: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal has announced to participate in the inauguration program amidst the opposition’s uproar over the inauguration of the new Parliament building. BJD said on Wednesday (May 24) that the President of India is the head of the country. The Parliament represents the 1.4 billion people of India. Both the institutions are symbols of Indian democracy and derive their authority from the Constitution of India.
The party further said that their authority and stature should always be protected. BJD believes that these constitutional institutions should be above any issue. Which can affect their sanctity and honor. Such issues can always be debated later. So BJD will be a part of this momentous occasion.
Controversy over the inauguration of the new Parliament House
PM Narendra Modi The new Parliament House is going to be inaugurated on 28th May. All political parties have been invited for the inauguration ceremony. Meanwhile, the opposition parties inaugurated the building under the President Draupadi Murmu Has demanded to get it done. So far 19 opposition parties have announced boycott of this programme.
In a joint statement, 19 opposition parties alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to inaugurate the new Parliament House, completely bypassing President Murmu, is not only a gross insult to the President, but a direct attack on our democracy. Although many opposition parties have also announced to participate in the ceremony.
Akali Dal will also participate in the ceremony
Apart from the BJD, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also said on Wednesday that party president Sukhbir Singh Badal would attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House in Delhi on May 28. The Akali Dal said that the country is getting a new Parliament House and it is a proud moment. We do not want any politics to happen at this time.
