Rahul Gandhi Case: Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP from Wayanad, has been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment by the Surat court of Gujarat. The court, however, granted bail to Rahul Gandhi for his ‘Modi surname’ statement and stayed the execution of his sentence for 30 days, so that the Congress leader could challenge the verdict. After this decision of the court, other opposition parties including Congress are attacking the Modi government. Congress has announced the protest.
Regarding this, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a meeting with party leaders at his residence on Thursday (March 23). Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “We will go to Vijay Chowk on Friday between 11.30 am and 12 noon.” We have sought an appointment with the President. There will be a meeting of opposition parties at 10 am. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will hold a meeting with the State Congress President in the evening. On Monday, the party will perform in Delhi and in different states.
Modi government accused
He said, “The Modi government is doing politics of vengeance, harassment. We will directly compete with the Modi government. Today the meeting lasted for about 2 hours. About 50 MPs were present in this meeting.” Jairam Ramesh said, “This is not just a legal issue, it is a serious political issue which is related to democracy. This is a great example of the politics of threats, intimidation and harassment by the Modi government. We will fight it legally. This is also a political contest, we will not be afraid of it.

At the same time, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that Rahul Gandhi is speaking on the Adani issue, so the government is looking for every possible way to silence Rahul Gandhi, but neither Rahul Gandhi nor the Congress party will be silent.
Congress ready to challenge the decision
Meanwhile, sources said that the party leaders discussed that immediate remedial measures should be taken to challenge the Surat court’s decision and stay it from the higher court. He told that a petition challenging this order is being prepared and it will be filed in the district and sessions court.
Opposition parties also joined
The Congress has also got the support of the opposition parties regarding this matter. Aam Aadmi Party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that a conspiracy is being hatched to eliminate non-BJP leaders and parties by prosecuting them. We have differences with the Congress, but it is not right to implicate Rahul Gandhi in a defamation case like this. It is the job of the public and the opposition to ask questions. We respect the court but disagree with the decision.
