Bihta Surya Mandir Ghat: On October 25, a leopard was seen in the Kendriya Vidyalaya campus of Bihta, adjacent to Patna. There is fear among the people of Bihta after the picture captured in CCTV went viral. There is a historical Sun Temple and pond near the place where the leopard was roaming. People come from far and wide on Chhath Puja. Even on October 30, a leopard was seen roaming near the pond. Meanwhile, the biggest thing is how will Chhath happen here this time?
The district administration team is making special preparations for Chhath in fear of the leopard. All the arrangements including cleaning and painting of Chhath Ghat are being made. The cleaning workers are working under the supervision of forest guards and local police. Forest guards have been deployed here 24 hours a day. On the instructions of Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh, last Sunday (03 November), Danapur SDO, Forest Range Officer and Air Force security officer simultaneously inspected the Surya Mandir Chhath Ghat located at Bihta Air Force Station.
Efforts are being made to catch the leopard
The officials, after consulting the local public representatives, said that efforts are being made by the forest officer and the district administration to catch the leopard. Five cameras and two traps have been installed by the Forest Department. A team has been formed for patrolling in the evening, night and morning. DFO himself is patrolling daily. Apart from this, monitoring is also being done through the cameras of the Air Force station.
Danapur SDO said that the administration is keeping an eye on the situation. To ensure the preparations for Chhath Puja in the Sun Temple till the leopard is caught, it has been decided by the cleaning staff of Municipal Council Bihta to clean the pond located inside the complex under the supervision of the Forest Guard, local police and Air Force. Because leopard is often seen near Sun Temple Pond.
Villages outside the Air Force station were alerted
It is said that leopard has not been seen outside the Air Force campus yet. For security reasons, three schools located on the campus have been closed. The villages located outside the Air Force station have been alerted. The team of forest, administration and police is continuously working to ensure the safety of the people.
