ISRO PROBA-3: The European Space Agency (ESA)’s PSLV-C59 rocket/ROBA-3 mission, to be launched today by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), has been postponed due to a technical glitch. This mission has now been scheduled for tomorrow i.e. 5th December. Now it will be launched tomorrow at 4:12 pm from Sriharikota Space Centre.
This is the PROBA-3 mission of the European Space Agency (ESA), which is being launched by ISRO. This mission will study the Sun’s corona and its hottest layer. Corona is called the outer atmosphere of the Sun. ISRO’s commercial arm NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is also working in this mission of the European Space Agency.
What is special in the mission
The special thing is that ISRO has already launched the PROBA mission, the first of which was launched in the year 2001 as Proba-1, while the second was launched in the year 2009 in the name of Proba-2. ISRO was successful in both its missions. Now if we talk about Proba-3 mission, it will be launched from two main spacecraft. The first is Occulter, whose weight is about 200 kg. The second spacecraft is Coronagraph and its weight is 340 kg. After the launch of this mission, both these satellites – Occulter and Coronagraph will be separated from each other and later they will be brought together to their positions.
What is Proba-3 mission?
Proba-3 mission is a partnership project of European countries – Spain, Poland, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. The total cost of the mission is said to be 200 million euros. The special thing is that this mission is going to last for two years and for the first time, ‘Precision Formation Flying’ is also going to be tested in space, in which two satellites are flown simultaneously and they maintain the same configuration. .
