But special religious beliefs are attached to it.
Yoni worship is done in Kamakhya temple
The temple of Kamakhya Devi is considered to be one of the 51 Shaktipeeths located in India. According to belief, the vaginal part of Goddess Sati had fallen here. That’s why the Yoni worship of the goddess is done in the Kamakhya temple. There is no idol of the goddess here. Due to being part of the vagina, Goddess Rajaswala (menstruation) also takes place here. This is the only temple where Goddess Kamakhya menstruates once a year. When the goddess is in her menstrual cycle, the temple also remains closed for three days and the darshan of the goddess is also prohibited.
So due to this the river Brahmaputra becomes red.
Every year in the month of June, the water of the Brahmaputra river turns red like blood for three days. It is believed that, during this period, Kamakhya Devi lives in the monthly cycle. During Rajaswala, the entire Brahmaputra river turns red with the flowing blood of Goddess Kamakhya.
Red cloth is given as Prasad to the devotees.
Not only the rules of worship in the temple of Kamakhya Devi are different from other temples. Rather, Prasad is also given to the devotees here in a different way. Here devotees are given red colored cloth as Prasad. Regarding this red cloth, it is said that when the goddess has a menstrual cycle of three days, then white colored cloths are spread in the temple and the temple is closed for three days. When the doors of the temple open after three days, the white cloth turns red with the blood of the goddess. This cloth is called Ambuvachi cloth and is given as Prasad to the devotees.
