The Champions Trophy was last organized in the year 2017, which was jointly hosted by England and Wales. The top-8 teams of the world participated in the tournament, which were divided into 2 groups. India, Pakistan, England and Bangladesh had made it to the semi-finals by finishing first two in their respective groups. In the first semi-final, Pakistan defeated England by 8 wickets and entered the final. In the second semi-final match, Team India won over Bangladesh by 9 wickets.
Finally, in the title clash, two arch rivals India and Pakistan came face to face. In the final match, Pakistan team, playing first, had scored 338 runs on the scoreboard. Fakhar Zaman played a brilliant inning of 114 runs, while Mohammad Hafeez played a quick inning of 57 runs in 37 balls, taking the team’s score beyond 300. In response, the batsmen of the Indian team adopted the slogan of ‘Aaya Ram Gaya Ram’ as the entire team was out till the score of 158 runs.
The batsman who scored the most runs for India was Hardik Pandya, who played an innings of 76 runs under pressure. In that encounter, Mohammad Aamir and Hasan Ali wreaked havoc for Pakistan and took 3 wickets each. In those days, Virat Kohli used to captain Team India.
