His full name is Kambadahalli Hanumappa Muniyappa. He was born on March 7, 1948 in Kammadhalli Shidalghatta district of Karnataka. He belongs to the Madiga (Sakkilyar) community. He is a Congress politician. Also, he was the Minister of State with independent charge of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India. From 1991 to 2019, he was a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing the Kolar Lok Sabha constituency of Karnataka for seven consecutive terms.
On May 28, 2009, he was administered the oath of office along with 59 other ministers by the President of India, Pratibha Patil. He took over the responsibility of Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He has also been a former Union Minister. Muniyappa lost the 2019 election to his rival S Muniswamy by more than one lakh votes.
