Bangladesh received foreign remittances worth $2 billion in the first three weeks of December. In Bangladesh currency this amount is approximately Taka 24,000 crore. This has been revealed in the report of Bangladesh newspaper Daily Observer.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh, anti-India activities have increased. Incidents of atrocities on minorities, especially Hindus, are increasing. The steps taken by the government of interim Prime Minister Mohammad Yunus have increased tension in relations between India and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Pakistan based terrorist groups are trying to spread trouble in India through Bangladesh. According to reports, anti-India activities are receiving financial support from Bangladeshi citizens living abroad.
Shocking revelations in the report
According to the report of Bangladeshi newspaper Daily Observer, Bangladesh is getting money from different sources. Of this, $613.1 million is reported to be received from government banks, $77.3 million from special banks and $516 million from foreign banks. In the current financial year (2024-25), a total of $11.37 billion came to Bangladesh between July and November. Most of the money comes from laborers working in the Gulf countries, who regularly send money back to their families. Because of this, Indian security agencies fear that the increasing foreign money may be used in anti-India activities.
Radical forces strong in Bangladesh
With the departure of Sheikh Hasina government, fundamentalist forces have become stronger. The effect of this was that an advisor to the Mohammad Yunus government released a controversial map, in which the north-eastern states of India were shown as part of Bangladesh. Because of this, due to continuous atrocities, Hindus are trying to migrate from Bangladesh to India.
