Weather Update Heatwave: People are troubled by the extreme heat in the country. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heat wave in many states for the next few days. According to IMD, heatwave will continue in eastern India during the next five days. There are chances of heatwave in some parts of Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Due to the western disturbance coming in North-West India, there may be rain in other parts of the country from April 22 (Monday).
Temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius
In many states including West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand, the maximum temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius. According to IMD, there is no hope of relief from heat in these states till April 23, 2024. According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave conditions will persist in many parts of Gangetic West Bengal on April 21 (Sunday) and in different parts of Jharkhand and Bihar till April 24.
According to IMD, there is a possibility of severe heat wave at different places in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal in the next 24 hours. According to IMD scientist, due to the current heat wave condition in Odisha, orange alert has been issued for Sunday and Monday. He said, “There may be a slight drop in temperature in Odisha and after a break of two days, there is a possibility of heat wave again. Heat wave conditions will continue in Bihar in the coming five days.”
The IMD said that hot and humid weather conditions are expected across the country over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe till April 24. IMD’s forecast says that the maximum temperature in eastern Uttar Pradesh will increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the next 24 hours. The areas for which warning has been issued regarding excessive heat include Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Bihar and Jharkhand.
According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds at isolated places in Northeast India till April 24.
