When will Mohammed Shami return? BCCI surprised by giving sudden update

Mohammed Shami Return Update: There was speculation for several weeks about Mohammed Shami that he could join Team India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Now BCCI has released his medical report and made it clear that his injury is not completely healed yet. Shami was last seen playing in the 2023 ODI World Cup. A year has passed since those talks, so the question arises that how much longer will Team India and its fans have to wait for Shami’s return?

In the statement issued by BCCI, it was said that Shami’s right heel injury has completely healed, but there is a problem of slight swelling in the left knee. As far as his comeback is concerned, it has been revealed that Shami is currently focusing on improving his strength and conditioning with the medical staff. He is trying to reach that fitness level at the BCCI Center of Excellence, so that he does not face any problem in throwing long bowling spells in Test matches.

At present, the excitement of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 is at its peak, which started from 21st December. Shami’s return to the Bengal team for this tournament also depends on the condition of his knee. For now it has been made clear that Shami will not join Team India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. For now, it would not be wrong to say that Shami may also miss the series against England.

Haven’t played international cricket for a year

Mohammed Shami played 7 matches in the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup, in which he took 24 wickets. He was the highest wicket-taker in the entire tournament, but he suffered an ankle injury in the World Cup itself. Shami has been away from international cricket since then. However, he made a comeback in the Bengal team in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. He played all 9 matches for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
