In the year 1814, in the month of August, King Surat Singh of the princely state of Bikaner attacked the Churu fort with his army. Thakur Shivji Singh fought him strongly with his army, but after a few days of the war, his ammunition ran out. Due to which the king got worried, but the people there fully supported their king and sacrificed all their gold and silver to protect the state. After this, Thakur Shivji Singh ordered his soldiers to fire silver balls from cannons at the enemies. In the end it happened that the enemy’s army accepted defeat and ran away from there.
