Guru Teg Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas: Today (24 November) is the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Guru Tegh Bahadur is called the 9th Guru of the Sikhs. They are also known as Hind ki Chadar. He took a direct fight with the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb to save Hinduism. Had opened a front against the forcible conversion of Aurangzeb. In 1675, Aurangzeb had his head cut off in front of everyone for not accepting Islam. Guru Tegh Bahadur accepted the beheading, but did not bow before Aurangzeb.
Guru Tegh Bahadur has a deep connection with Agra. Guru Tegh Bahadur was arrested in Taal located in Kakraitha, Agra. The Mughal soldiers kept him under house arrest for 9 days in this pond. After that he was presented before Aurangzeb in Delhi. He refused to bow his head before Aurangzeb. Angered by this, that cruel ruler had sentenced Guru Tegh Bahadur to be beheaded in front of everyone.

The place from where Guru Tegh Bahadur was arrested in Agra, today a grand gurudwara has been built there. Many things related to the 9th Guru of Sikhs have been preserved in this gurudwara. In the beginning this gurudwara was very small, but now a grand gurudwara has been built on 18 acres of land. Langar continues for 24 hours in this gurudwara. It is said that there is only one gurudwara in the whole of Uttar Pradesh, in which langar runs for 24 hours.

Sacrificed life for Kashmiri Pandits
It is said that during the reign of Aurangzeb, the atrocities of the Mughals increased even in Kashmir. Aurangzeb had appointed Sher Afgan Khan as the subedar of Kashmir. Kashmiri Pandits were being forcibly converted. On Aurangzeb’s wish, Sher Khan was forcibly converting Kashmiri Pandits to Islam. This Kashmiri Pandits sought Guru Tegh Bahadur’s help. He immediately agreed to help Kashmiri Pandits.
Open challenge was given to Aurangzeb
After listening to Kashmiri Pandits, the ninth Guru of Sikhs openly challenged the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. He said go and tell Aurangzeb that if you change the religion of our Guru and if he accepts Islam, then we will too. This thing was conveyed to Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb became enraged after listening to Guru Teg Bahadur and he ordered his soldiers to bring him and hold his feet. Mughal soldiers arrested Guru Tegh Bahadur, but they were not ready to bow down before Aurangzeb.

Aurangzeb had also arrested his brothers to break the pride of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The cruel ruler threatened death to make the Guru bow down. In front of Guru’s eyes, his younger brother Matidas was hacked to death alive. The second brother Sati Das was thrown into the fire alive. Even after this, he did not accept Aurangzeb’s words. Defeated, the Mughal emperor brought him to Chandni Chowk and his neck was beheaded with a sword.
