Parties like CPIM and CPM supporting the government were against this deal from the beginning.

As a result, there was a fierce war of words between the Left and the Congress for the next two years. Communist Party of India CPI leader AB Vardhan keeps threatening the government and it seems that the government is gone now or then. At that time, it was said that whenever Vardhan opened his mouth, both the government and the organization started trembling. Meanwhile, when journalists asked Vardhan how long the government is safe, he replied that it is safe till 5 pm but I don’t know about the future.

It is only said that then Congress and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi tried to intervene in this matter but PM Manmohan Singh was not ready to bow down on this matter. Manmohan Singh was so upset in the Congress meeting that he even threatened to resign on the issue of the nuclear deal. The result was that Congress had to bow before Manmohan Singh. This deal was finalized but the left parties withdrew their support.
