WhatsApp is working on several new features for Android, Apple iOS, Windows and web users. This has been revealed in a report. While most of these features are already available to users who are part of the WhatsApp beta program, some features have been seen in the beta update. Here is a list of WhatsApp features that you might be able to use soon.
WhatsApp is working on a new chat feature for group admins. WhatsApp is planning to increase the power of group admin to delete messages sent by other group members in future updates. WhatsApp group admins will be able to delete messages of anyone without asking. This will give the administrator control over the group chat and enable them to delete unnecessary messages. When an admin deletes a particular message in a group chat, users will see a note saying “This was deleted by an admin”.
WhatsApp can bring two-step verification on web/desktop. For the unaware, two-step verification is an optional feature that adds more security to your WhatsApp account. The Two Step Verification PIN is different from the 6 digit registration code that you receive through SMS or phone call. It is needed when you login to your WhatsApp account and is mainly aimed at preventing unauthorized access. It is currently available on the WhatsApp mobile app.
WhatsApp is bringing message reactions just like Instagram and Facebook Messenger. This feature allows users to react to messages. Users just have to tap and hold the message they want to react to and then drag their finger over the appropriate emoji. The reaction will appear below the text and will be visible to all group members.
WhatsApp is working on a new animating heart emoji for Android and Apple iOS users. Currently, when users send a red heart emoji, they see an animation where the heart is seen beating. The animation effect is limited to the red heart emoji, but a new report suggests that the Facebook-owned platform is working to add animated effects to more emoji.
The community feature will provide more control to the administrator. This feature is expected to provide an option to create a group within a group. This will be very similar to how many channels are arranged under one Discord community. The subgroups also appear to be end-to-end encrypted.
