WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new privacy shortcut for Android smartphones. According to a report, the new WhatsApp shortcut will allow you to manage the status privacy settings. The report states that WhatsApp has started rolling out a new beta update for Android users and references to shortcuts have been found in the update. The update brings the version of the app to 2.22.6.6.2. The new shortcut is rumored to be in the works with a new caption bar which is still under development.
According to the report, the new shortcut will allow you to edit the list of users who will be able to see the status updates shared by you. The report states that when you tap on ‘Status’, you will be able to see the shortcut that appears at the bottom of the screen. With Shortcuts, you will be able to quickly select the WhatsApp contacts with whom you want to share your currency or future updates.
Currently, users have to go to the status settings to limit the audience of their status updates. As this feature is still under development, it is not available to beta testers. WhatsApp has not officially given any details about the shortcut, but it is expected that it will be available to the users with the upcoming update.
According to an earlier report, WhatsApp is also enabling a new preview for documents shared in chat for Android users. According to the report, WhatsApp is working on a new way to get document previews when you share videos and photos as documents in chat.
Right now you can’t get a preview of a photo or video sent as a document without opening it. As per the screenshot shared with the report, the preview will be similar to what appears when you share a PDF file as a document on WhatsApp.
