Manmohan Singh Death: The country’s former Prime Minister and renowned economist Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday (26 December). He breathed his last at the age of 92. The central government has declared seven days of national mourning and canceled all government programs scheduled for Friday. The last rites of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh will be performed with full state honours.
Dr. Manmohan Singh could not fulfill his one wish in his life. Congress leader Rajeev Shukla had told about his wish during an interview.
Rajeev Shukla had revealed
Dr. Manmohan Singh was born in Gah village, situated 100 kilometers south-east of Islamabad, Pakistan. He studied till class four in the primary school of this village. After partition, his family came to India from Pakistan. Dr. Manmohan Singh had once visited Pakistan while working abroad.
In an interview given to UNFILTERED by Samdish, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla had told that while working abroad, he had gone to Rawalpindi with his friend. Then he went to the Gurudwara where he used to go during Baisakhi days in his childhood. During this period he did not go to his village.
I wanted to see my primary school.
In this interview, Rajeev Shukla had told, “Once after coming back from Pakistan, I was sitting with him in the PM House. Then he told me that I also want to go to Pakistan. I asked him where are you in Pakistan. But when he wanted to go, he replied that he wanted to go to his village.
He further said, “I asked him whether he wanted to see his ancestral house and he said that my house was destroyed long ago. I want to see the school where I studied till class four. However, he could never go to Pakistan and his wish was not fulfilled.
