Hamas Confirms Death of Leader Yahya Sinwar: Amidst the Israel-Hamas war, Israel had announced yesterday that it has killed Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar. After this, now Hamas has also confirmed this. However, the organization has said that after the death of its leader, the organization will emerge even stronger.
Khalil al-Hayya, a prominent political leader of Hamas, has confirmed the death of the group’s leader Yahya Sinwar. Khalil al-Hayya has been elected as the new chief of Hamas. He said the death would “give us more strength.” Khalil al-Hayya reiterated in a televised statement that Israeli prisoners captured during the October 7 attack on Israel would not be released until the “attacks on Gaza” stop and Israeli forces withdraw from Gaza.
‘Sinwar’s death will return as a curse for Israel’
He said, “Those prisoners will not return to you until the attacks on Gaza end and the Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza.” He also said that Sinwar’s death would result in a “curse on the invaders.”
Who was Yahya Sinwar?
Yahya Sinwar was born in 1962 in Gaza’s refugee camp Khan Younis. Yahya’s parents were from Ashkelon, but, when Israel was established in 1948, and thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their ancestral homes, Yahya’s parents also became refugees. Yahya Sinwar did his early education at the Boys’ Secondary School in Khan Yunis. After this he took a bachelor’s degree in Arabic language from the Islamic University of Gaza. After this he became a member of Hamas. When Israel arrested him in 1980, he killed 12 people. Yahya Sinwar is also known as the butcher of Khan Yunis city. It is said that Sinwar has spent 22 years of his life in Israeli prisons.
