IND vs NZ 2nd Test Day 1 Report: India vs New Zealand second test match started from 24th October, which is being played in Pune. On the first day, New Zealand’s first innings was reduced to 259 runs, while by the end of the day’s play, India had scored 16 runs at the loss of one wicket. Team India is currently trailing by 243 runs in the first innings. Washington Sundar was the star player of the first day in the Pune Test, who gave the best performance of his career by dismissing 7 batsmen of the Kiwi team.
New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and chose to bowl first. Captain Latham once again failed to play a big innings, which was dismissed by Ashwin on the score of 15 runs. Will Young also returned to the pavilion after scoring just 18 runs. But after that, the 62-run partnership of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra put the Kiwi team in a strong position. Conway played a half-century of 76 runs and Ravindra played a half-century of 65 runs.
At one time, New Zealand had scored 197 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, but the process of falling wickets continued from here. Five of the last six batsmen of the visiting team could not even touch double figures. The last 6 wickets of New Zealand’s innings had fallen within 62 runs. When the Indian innings started, captain Rohit Sharma could not even open the account, who was clean bowled by Tim Saudi.
Washington and Ashwin wreaked havoc
New Zealand’s first wicket was taken by Ravichandran Ashwin, but after that Washington Sundar took command and broke the back of the Kiwi team’s batting line-up. Sundar took the first wicket of Rachin Ravindra, who scored 65 runs and after that the Kiwi batsmen were seen struggling in front of Sundar. Bowling 23.1 overs, he gave 59 runs and took a total of 7 wickets. Whereas Ashwin bowled 24 overs and took 3 wickets. Ashwin has now overtaken Australia’s Nathan Lyon, who currently has 530 wickets, in terms of taking the most wickets in the history of Test cricket.
