‘Was to be done in Nagpur, inaugurated in Vadodara’, Congress on Tata Airbus C-295 manufacturing unit

Congress On Tata Airbus C 295 Unit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi India on Monday (28 October) inaugurated the C-295 aircraft manufacturing facility, further strengthening India’s position as a trusted partner in global aerospace manufacturing. Congress lodged an objection regarding this. Congress said that the interests of Maharashtra have been ignored by inaugurating it in Vadodara.

According to Hindustan Times report, Congress has claimed that the C-295 aircraft unit was originally to be established in Nagpur, but now it has been inaugurated in Vadodara. Congress Rajya Sabha MP and communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh said that the people of Maharashtra will give a strong answer to the Prime Minister and his associates for betraying the state.

What did Jairam Ramesh say?

He alleged in a post on social media platform , but it was shifted to Gujarat on the eve of assembly elections in 2022.”

‘The trick played behind the scenes’

He said that “one can only imagine the moves behind the scenes” that led to Maharashtra missing out on this important investment. Jairam Ramesh said, “This is no exception. Under the leadership and direction of the non-organic Prime Minister, the Central Government and the Mahayuti Government have ensured wholesale surrender of Maharashtra’s interests in getting new projects off the ground or receiving Central assistance. A conspiracy has been hatched.”

Citing past examples, the Congress leader pointed out that the International Financial Services Center (IFSC) has been set up only in GIFT City in Gujarat. He alleged, “Dr. Manmohan Singh had initiated efforts to set it up in Mumbai in 2006. Land had already been set aside in Bandra Kurla Complex for the IFSC but it was vandalized, potentially resulting in the IFSC being set up in Mumbai. 2 lakh jobs were lost.”

Jairam Ramesh said, “Mumbai and Surat have worked together for decades to develop India’s diamond industry, with Surat handling the cutting and polishing, while Mumbai handling the trading and exporting. However, Surat A new Bharat Diamond Bourse was created in 2007. It is a different matter that this move has completely failed, because many diamond traders are taking their business back to Mumbai.

‘Semiconductor chip factory also transferred to Gujarat’

Along with the Tata-Airbus manufacturing plant, the “now failed Vedanta-Foxconn” semiconductor chip factory was also shifted from Maharashtra to Gujarat, he said. He said that the Textiles Commissionerate office, which was located in Mumbai for 80 years, was suddenly transferred to Delhi last year without any apparent reason, while the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) remains the major hub of the textile industry.

He said, “We believe in equitable development of the entire country. New infrastructure projects, special investment zones and modern industry should benefit all Indians, not just one state.”
