India China Clash: Sukhoi fighter jets and drones flew fiercely on the second day of the Indian Air Force maneuvers at the Tezpur airbase in Assam amid the ongoing tussle with China in Arunachal Pradesh. The two-day exercise ended on Friday evening. Fighter aircraft and UAVs started flying at Tezpur airbase since morning. Flying of Sukhoi fighter jets one after the other, the air space of Tezpur echoed with thunder. During this, UAVs of the Air Force also kept flying continuously in the sky of Tezpur.
If there is a violation of air space from the Chinese side on the LAC adjacent to Arunachal Pradesh, then Sukhoi fighter jets are scrambled from this Tezpur air base. Helicopter flying was drilled at Tezpur airbase on Thursday evening. One after the other Chinook and other helicopters practiced night flying operation in the sky of Tezpur. Tezpur is the only Indian Air Force base in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh where fighter aircraft are stationed. Apart from this, helicopters and drones are also stationed here.
maneuvers lasted till Friday evening
After the Doklam dispute in 2017, when China’s J-20 fighter jet came very close to the LAC adjacent to Arunachal Pradesh, Sukhoi had ‘detected’ it. After this news, China was criticized all over the world, because China claimed that no radar or aircraft of the world can detect the J-20 stealth fighter jet. After this incident, China had also changed the avionics to stealth features of its J-20 and no news of J-20 was revealed for a long time. The Eastern Command of the Air Force was conducting a two-day (December 15-16) exercise from Thursday. This exercise was done in the air-space of all the North-Eastern states including Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The Air Force had also issued a NOTAM regarding this. According to the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), this maneuver lasted from 1.30 pm on Thursday to 5.30 pm on Friday.
The exercise was already decided before the Tawang incident
The Air Force issued a brief statement on Thursday saying that this exercise was already decided before the Tawang incident. It has nothing to do with recent events. According to the Air Force, its purpose is the training of airmen. If the Indian Air Force currently has the maximum number of fighter jets, then it is Sukhoi. The Air Force has more than 250 Sukhoi aircraft. Recently, to make them more lethal, they have also been equipped with BrahMos missile. Under a special agreement with Russia, these Sukhoi fighter jets are manufactured in India only, which are called SU-30 MKI.
