Joint Committee on Waqf Amendment Bill: The meeting of the Joint Committee of Parliament formed regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill has now reached its final stage. The committee is currently trying to complete its work quickly and now preparations are being made to reach out to as many people as possible in the remaining time. On Thursday (November 7, 2024), committee chairman Jagdambika Pal will visit Karnataka.
According to sources, the farmers sitting on strike against the decisions of the state government related to the Waqf Board in Karnataka will meet Jagdambika Pal. During this one-day tour, Pal will visit Hubli and Vijayanagar. However, the remaining members of the committee will not participate in this tour. According to the information, the process of permission for all the committee members to go on a trip together takes some time, and this visit was decided suddenly.
Countrywide tour plan
After this tour, Jagdambika Pal will go on a tour of many states of the country along with the other members of the committee from 9 to 14 November. According to sources, after this the committee will meet the stakeholders in Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Patna and Lucknow and work to know their views.
More than 20 meetings have been held so far
It is noteworthy that the Joint Committee of Parliament based on the Waqf Amendment Bill has held more than 20 meetings so far. The committee has also visited different states and met the stakeholders there to get their views. It is expected that this process will be completed soon and after this the committee will submit its report to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
