On this, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju had said that the bill does not violate anyone’s religious freedom and any article of the Constitution. Last Thursday, a meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee- JPC constituted for the Waqf Board Amendment 2024 was also held.
According to the information, there was a discussion in this committee about including non-Muslim members in the Waqf Board. As per the suggestions sought from the public by the Joint Parliamentary Committee formed for Waqf, till now the committee has received more than 94 lakh emails and lakhs of written replies.
