Vivo has established its presence in the Indian market. The Chinese brand has left behind South Korean smartphone brand Samsung, which was at number one for a long time. Vivo has sold the maximum number of smartphones in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2024. The Indian smartphone market has seen tremendous growth in the first quarter of the year. According to market research firm Counterpoint, the quarter ending March 2024 has been the highest value quarter of the Indian smartphone market.

Vivo had a market share of 19 percent in the Indian market in the first quarter of the year, which is the highest. At the same time, Xiaomi’s market share has been 18.8 percent and the Chinese brand has once again succeeded in being at second place. South Korean brand Samsung, which ruled the Indian market in the last quarter, has now reached the third position. Samsung’s market share has declined to 17.5 percent. At the same time, Vivo has taken a huge leap from third to top position. Apart from these three, Realme and Oppo are included in the Indian smartphone market top-5.

Samsung is king here

Even though Vivo has overtaken Samsung in terms of selling smartphones, Samsung still dominates in volume share. The average selling price (ASP) of Samsung is $425 i.e. approximately Rs 38,500, which is much higher than Vivo and Xiaomi. At the same time, Samsung still remains the king in the Rs 20,000 segment.

The first quarter of the year has been great for Apple in the Indian market. Indian customers are liking the brand’s latest iPhone 15 series a lot. The company has made a good hold in the offline market. However, Apple’s market share has decreased compared to the last quarter of 2023.

Talking about value market share, Apple still dominates it. The market share of the American brand is 19 percent. At the same time, Xiaomi comes at second place, whose market share is 18 percent. The value market share of Chinese brands has grown by 28 percent year-on-year.
