Virat Kohli Retirement Update: Virat Kohli’s poor form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has raised question marks on his Test career. On one hand, Rohit Sharma, despite being the captain, had decided to sit out of the Sydney Test. Off-stump balls have been continuously troubling Virat Kohli throughout the series and he was out in the same manner in the Sydney Test as well. Now a new report has revealed that Kohli is in no mood to retire yet.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Kohli is in no mood to retire yet and wants to play till the 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup. Quoting PTI, a former selector of the Indian team said that Virat’s possible place in the Test series against England in June 2025 seems to be in danger. This former selector predicted that it would be a very difficult task for the selectors to select Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the Test series against England.
India has to play 5 T20 and 3 ODI matches against England in the month of January-February. In the same report it was told that Kohli and Rohit cannot be included in the Test team only on the basis of IPL performance. There have been speculations that Virat can play domestic cricket, despite this he has not given any clear stand on this subject. The next round of Ranji Trophy matches will start from January 23.
Virat Kohli has played for Delhi in domestic cricket, whose next match will be played against Saurashtra in Rajkot. But there seems to be little hope that Kohli will play any red-ball cricket before the Test series against England. This report can be said to be an indication that the Test career of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is no longer safe. Both these cricketers have already taken retirement before T20.
