The first match of the two-match Test series (IND vs SL Test Series) between India and Sri Lanka is to be played in Mohali. The stadium will remain empty in this match starting on March 4. BCCI has not allowed the entry of spectators here. This decision has been taken due to Korana infection. This Test to be played in Mohali will also be the 100th Test of former captain Virat Kohli. In such a situation, planning is going on on how this big achievement of Virat will be celebrated in this empty stadium.
RP Singla, treasurer of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), has said, ‘As per the instructions of the BCCI, we are not allowing anyone other than those on duty for the Test match to enter the stadium. Cases of corona are still coming up in and around Mohali, so it is better that we follow all the safety rules. The audience will definitely miss it because after almost three years an international match is being organized here.
Regarding this 100th Test of Virat Kohli, Singhla said, ‘We will put up big hoardings and our council will also honor Virat. As per the instructions of BCCI, we will do it at the beginning or end of the game.
After Mohali, the second Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Bengaluru. This will be a day-night test. In this test, 50% of the spectators have got permission to enter the stadium. Online tickets will be available for this pink ball test from March 1.
