West Bengal Hooghly Violence: Violence erupted once again in West Bengal on Sunday (April 2) evening. A clash broke out between two groups during the Ram Navami procession in Hooghly district. During this stone pelting, arson was done. BJP’s National Vice President Dilip Ghosh was also present in this program. After this incident, the process of war-counter-attack started again in BJP-TMC. Earlier, there was violence in Bengal’s Howrah on Thursday, on the day of Ram Navami. Know the big things related to the latest developments.
1. In West Bengal’s Hooghly, there was fierce ruckus and stone pelting during BJP’s procession on Sunday. During this, vehicles were also set on fire. This incident took place on GT Road in Rishra police station area. Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh was also involved in this procession.
2. BJP’s national vice-president Dilip Ghosh alleged that people were going to the Jagannath temple with a procession when stones were pelted at them. Today processions were taken out at many places, the procession was going on peacefully, suddenly stones were pelted from some locality. The glasses of the car were broken, people got hurt. The sound of the bomb came, I told our people to maintain peace.
3. Ghosh said that BJP’s Pursurah MLA Biman Ghosh was injured in the stone pelting and has been admitted to the hospital. He claimed that many women and children were carrying saffron flags in the procession. Suddenly stones were pelted at him from one side of the road. Many policemen were also injured in the stone pelting. Me and some other leaders were rescued and taken out from there. He alleged that after remaining mute spectators for some time, the police finally chased away those miscreants.
4. Following the clashes during the procession, the state government suspended internet service in Hooghly district till 10 pm on 3 April. Section 144 was imposed in the violence-hit area of Hooghly. Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the Ram Navami violence in the state, requesting immediate help.
5. Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose is currently in Darjeeling. On the Hooghly incident, he said that the goons would be dealt with strictly and the culprits would be booked and sent behind bars. The state is determined to end this arson and looting.
6. Governor CV Anand Bose said that additional force has reached the spot and the culprits will be caught and put behind bars tonight itself. Such hooliganism thwarts democratic processes.
7. The ruling Trinamool Congress has questioned what was the need to take out the procession two days after Ram Navami. Trinamool Congress spokesperson Joyprakash Majumdar said that why are they adamant on taking out the Ram Navami procession in the holy month of Ramzan? Why was the Ram Navami procession taken out after two days? BJP wants to create riots in Bengal for political gains.
8. He said that BJP wants to create problems by taking out religious processions in some sensitive areas. He said that she is creating such a situation in which a demand can be made to impose President’s rule in the state. Mazumdar claimed that the people involved in the procession were carrying weapons, due to which fear spread among the people.
9. West Bengal minister Shashi Panja said that violence and arson happen whenever the BJP holds a rally. Today also the same thing happened during the BJP rally led by Dilip Ghosh. It has become their tradition. This whole incident was pre-planned by Dilip Ghosh. Our party strongly condemns this act of BJP. Communal riots have increased in BJP rule.
10. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the incident that happened in Hooghly was pre-planned by the BJP. These people are trying to create unrest in the name of Ram Navami. We are taking stock of the situation. BJP is seeing who can create more ruckus, Dilip Ghosh or Sukant Mazumdar.
