Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar announced, India will host Special Olympics

Special Olympics in New Delhi: Special Olympics, the national federation promoting sports for athletes with intellectual disability, has started from today at Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar started this Special Olympics. The Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling Competition being organized in India is the first event of its kind at the global level. It is being conducted for athletes with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) aged 22 years and above.

This competition will give an opportunity to players of deprived age group to show their potential. These are the players whose participation in sports usually decreases with increasing age. Apart from India, more than 100 athletes from 12 countries including Australia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh are participating in this Special Olympics.

Vice President gave message

On this occasion, the Vice President of the country Jagdeep Dhankhar also gave a new slogan. The Vice President said, “Books are important and sports are also important, life is incomplete without both.” Jagdeep Dhankhar said that it is a special opportunity for all of us that we are organizing this Special Olympics. This is a very special program in itself. We give opportunities to our special players for such programs. Our players are getting direct benefits of various schemes run by the government. In this way, India is also preparing itself to host the 2036 Olympics.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was also present at the inauguration of Special Olympics. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the effort of our government is to provide every possible help to every player. We have to fully support all these special players.

The program will run from 19-22 November

At the beginning of this program, Special Olympics India President Mallika Nadda said, “Players from 12 countries have come here, it shows their mentality and conviction. We talk about a world where if someone is physically fit, Even if it is not capable, India always talks about Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, it is a proud moment for India.

BJP MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal was also present at the inauguration of Special Olympics. Naveen Jindal said that these are those players who have overcome challenges and reached this stage. This Special Olympics is being organized at Tyagraj Stadium in Delhi and will run from 19 to 22 November.
