Uttarakhand News Today: The world famous Valley of Flowers National Park located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Valley of Flowers was closed for winter on Friday (November 1). The Valley of Flowers is opened to tourists every year between June and October.
Every year a large number of tourists from all over the world come to admire the beauty of this valley. This year, 19 thousand 436 tourists reached the valley, out of which 330 were foreigners. The park administration has received an income of Rs 39 lakh 39 thousand 250 from the influx of tourists.
The valley is on the banks of Pushpavati river.
Valley of Flowers is also called ‘Nandan Kanan’. It is situated on the other bank of Pushpavati river in Bhundar valley. This valley is known for its amazing natural beauty, different types of rare flowers and biodiversity.
A large number of nature lovers, photographers and adventure tourists reach here every year. Colorful flowers blooming here and situated in the lap of high mountains make this valley a center of unique experience for the tourists.
‘Increase in the number of tourists’
Forest Range Officer of the valley, Chetna Kandpal said that this year there has been an increase in the number of tourists, due to which the park has received good revenue. The increase in the number of tourists in the valley not only promotes tourism but also contributes to local employment and economic development.
Every year, it is opened for the general public by the park administration on 1st June and is closed for winter on 31st October. The Valley of Flowers is not only famous for its natural beauty, but rare wildlife and plant species are also found here.
These include wild animals like Himalayan bear, monal, musk deer and snow leopard. Keeping in mind the safety of wildlife and forest wealth, the park administration has also installed five trap cameras in the valley. These cameras have been installed at important places in the valley so that every activity happening in the valley can be monitored.
There are long patrols in winter
Even after the valley is closed during winter, long distance patrolling will continue for the protection of wildlife. The recce team of the park administration will go for inspection from time to time till snowfall in the valley.
These security measures help in preserving the biodiversity of the valley. This initiative of the park administration is an important step towards environmental protection.
The Valley of Flowers is famous not only in India but also globally. More than 500 species of flowers are found blooming here, which include rare species like Brahmakamal, Blue Poppy and Cobra Lily.
Inflow of tourists was beneficial
This valley is no less than a heaven for nature lovers. Tourists coming here say that the view of the valley remains in their memories forever. The arrival of large number of tourists this year was not only beneficial for the park administration.
Local businessmen, hotels, guides and travel managers have also benefited greatly from the influx of tourists in the valley. Now there will be snowfall in the valley during winter and nature in its different form will welcome the tourists next year.
