Ricky Ponting: Former Australian captain and veteran batsman Ricky Ponting is the head coach of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. On Wednesday, Delhi had to face a huge defeat of 106 runs against KKR. Coach Ricky Ponting termed such a shameful defeat by KKR as unacceptable and disappointing and also strongly reprimanded his team.
Delhi Capitals first allowed KKR to score 272 runs for seven wickets and then in response the entire team was all out for 166 runs in 17.2 overs. Ricky Ponting said in the press conference after the match, “It is difficult to review it now. I am very disappointed with the team’s performance in the first half. It is beyond comprehension to give so many runs. We bowled 17 wide balls and were unable to complete our overs. Took two hours. As a result, we were again two overs behind, which means that those who bowled the last two overs got only four fielders across the circle.”
He further said, “A lot happened in the match which is unacceptable. We will discuss it within the team and will improve it soon. It is important to have good discussions openly. Bowling, field placement, everything has to be discussed.”
Rishabh Pant fined Rs 24 lakh
Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 24 lakh for the second time in IPL 2024 for slow overrate. Now if his team does this once more, then Rishabh Pant will also be banned for one match. The overrate of Delhi Capitals, captained by Rishabh Pant, was slow in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. The remaining players have been fined 25 percent of the match fee.
