Donald Trump Warns India: US President Donald Trump has been surprising everyone with his decisions ever since he won the elections. Now once again he has given such a statement which is a cause of concern for both India and China. Now during a program he warned India that they will impose the same tariff on our goods.
Trump said on Monday that if they tax us, we will tax them the same. He made this comment while answering a question on a possible trade agreement with China. After this he said that India and Brazil are among the countries that impose high tariffs on some American products. From now on, whoever charges us, we will also charge the same.
25 percent tariff on all goods coming from Mexico and Canada
Recently, Trump announced that he will sign orders on his first day taking office in January, under which a 25 percent tariff will be imposed on all goods coming from Mexico and Canada. This will remain in place until they stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs, especially fentanyl, from their countries into the US. He also announced that if China did not take decisive action to stop the fentanyl drug from coming to America, he would impose a 10 percent tariff on goods coming from China in addition to the existing rates.
Biden protested
US President Joe Biden called President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff approach ‘a big mistake’. He commented about this in a speech given at the Washington-based think tank Brookings Institution.
Biden said, “He (Trump) appears determined to impose massive universal tariffs on all goods imported into this country, under the mistaken belief that foreign countries, rather than American consumers, will bear the cost of the tariffs.”
President Biden said, “Who do you think is going to pay for it? I believe this approach is a big mistake. We have proven over the last four years that this approach is a mistake.”
