Gujarat By Election 2024: In Gujarat, the ruling BJP and opposition Congress on Thursday expressed confidence of victory in the by-election to be held on Vav assembly seat. However, if a BJP rebel enters the fray, a triangular contest may be seen.
In view of the by-elections, Gujarat Congress in-charge Mukul Wasnik, while addressing a gathering of Dalits at Vav in Banaskantha, said that Congress is fighting this election to save the Constitution.
Talking to reporters after the rally, he said that with a BJP rebel contesting as an independent candidate, the election has turned into a triangular contest, but the voters of Vav will make the Congress candidate victorious.

from Banaskantha in June Lok Sabha elections After winning, Vav assembly seat became vacant due to the resignation of the then Congress MLA Geniben Thakor. Former Congress MLA Gulab Singh Rajput will face BJP’s Swaroopji Thakor on this seat. Thakor had lost to Ganiben from Vav seat in the 2022 assembly elections.
8 candidates in the fray
The other eight candidates in the fray include one Bharatiya Jan Parishad Party candidate and seven independent candidates, including BJP rebel and former MLA Mavji Patel.
In view of the by-elections, BJP state president and Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil visited Bhabhar town of Banaskantha and held a closed-door meeting with prominent party leaders of the district.
Voting will take place on 13 November
Talking about the triangular contest, Patil told reporters, “Everyone has the right to contest elections. Be it triangular or quadrangular, I am confident that BJP will be victorious this time.” Let us tell you that the by-election will be held on 13th November and the counting of votes will take place on 23rd November.
