Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is going to take place on April 19. Earlier, a holiday has been announced by the administration of Manipur state of North-East. This holiday will be without salary cut on Friday (April 19) next week for all employees of private sector commercial and industrial establishments falling under the 47 assembly constituencies determined for the first phase.
According to the order issued on 8 April 2024 by the General Administrative Department (Records and Library Section) of the Government of Manipur, voting for the first phase of general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 will be held on 19 April. On this day, all private sector employees will have a holiday with salary payment.
Actually, elections will be held in two phases for the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat of Manipur. Apart from April 19, elections for this seat will also be held on April 26, which will be held for the remaining 13 assembly seats under the Lok Sabha seat. Manipur is the only state in the general elections which has a Lok Sabha Elections Voting will be held in a total of two phases.
Employees will remain on leave in these private sectors
The private sector for which holidays have been declared by the government mainly includes sectors like shops, hotels, restaurants, workshops, educational institutions, printing presses, newspaper establishments, training institutes, financial institutions, motor transport undertakings etc. On this day, orders have been given by the owners not to deduct any salary of the employees in these institutions due to their leave.
Voting will be held in the remaining 13 assemblies on April 26.
The same order will also be applicable on the day of voting on April 26 (Friday) for the second phase to be held by the government in the remaining 13 assembly constituencies. There will be no salary cut in the voting to be held on this day, for which strict orders have been given.
It has also been made clear in the order that if an employee was given leave without payment of his wages, in that case also the organization will have to pay him the full amount for the day of relief.
Violence broke out in Manipur last year
Meanwhile, last year Manipur was completely disturbed. There was a lot of violence between the two groups. A large number of people were affected due to this violence. For this reason, voting is being conducted here in two phases. People in riot affected areas will be given the option to vote from the relief camp itself.
