‘This Bihari, street goon…’, when Poonam Sinha’s mother rejected Shatrughan Sinha

The Great Indian Kapil Show: Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha had arrived at The Great Indian Kapil Show with his wife Poonam Sinha, daughter Sonakshi Sinha and son-in-law Zaheer Iqbal. This episode was quite fun. During this, Shatrughan Sinha shared many unheard stories from his first meeting with wife Poonam Sinha. The veteran actor also told that his mother-in-law disliked him.

Actually during the episode, Archana Puran Singh had asked Poonam whether she or Shatrughan had proposed first. To this Shatrughan quipped, “He made me propose.” Poonam told in further details that her mother had initially rejected the pairing of her and Shatrughan. Poonam told, “His elder brother came to my house to talk to my mother. He said, ‘No’ of course not, we do not want any boy from the film fraternity.”

While adding humor to this story, Shatrughan revealed, “He said to my brother, ‘Have you seen your brother?’ This Bihari, the street ruffian, and our daughter Doodh Ki Dhuli Hui, so beautiful, fair, and Miss India.” He further joked, “If you make us stand together and take a color photo, So it looks black and white.”

Hearing this from Shatrughan, the audience and fellow panelists started laughing loudly. Let us tell you that despite initial opposition, the couple got married in 1980 and have been together since then. The presence of the Sinha family in the Netflix show also dispelled the rumors of rift due to Sonakshi’s recent inter-religion marriage with Zaheer Iqbal.
