Russia fired its new hypersonic ballistic missile ‘Orashnik’ (Hazel Tree) on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on November 21, 2024. According to the Ukrainian military, the city of Dnipro was attacked and a hypersonic missile and seven cruise missiles were also fired in this attack.

Russia’s new hypersonic missile “Orashnik” is equipped with advanced hypersonic technology which is in the headlines due to its dangerous performance and nuclear capabilities. It has hypersonic speed. This missile attacks the target at a speed many times faster than the speed of sound. Its distance and accuracy can be estimated from the fact that this missile, fired from the Astrakhan area, reached Dnipro after covering a distance of 700 kilometers.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, indicating the nuclear power of this missile, has described it as an effective weapon. This missile is a proof of Russia’s successful military and technological efforts, which can be used against Western countries.

What was the goal of attacking Dnipro?
Russian officials claimed that this attack was carried out to destroy Ukraine’s military industrial structure. According to Ukraine, two civilians were injured in the attack, the attack caused extensive damage to infrastructure in many places of the city. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the attack as a “serious escalation” and a threat to international peace.
