Chhattisgarh Urban Body Election 2023: 555 candidates are in the fray for the vacant posts in Municipalities and Three Tier Panchayats of Chhattisgarh. After the withdrawal of nominations on June 12 under the election process, now a total of 555 candidates are in the fray. Election will be held among 18 candidates for 8 vacant posts of councilors in municipalities and 537 candidates for total 198 seats in three-tier panchayats.
Voting for councilor election will be held on June 27
In Chhattisgarh, elections are to be held for a total of 9 vacant posts of councilors in total 9 municipalities, in which due to the situation of unopposed election for the post of councilor of Khongapani Nagar Panchayat, now elections will be held for only 8 seats of councilors. Out of these 8 councilor seats, 2-2 candidates are in the fray for 6 seats. Triangular election will be held on two seats of councilor. Voting for one vacant post of councilor of Municipal Council Champa, Municipal Council Kharora, Tumgaon, Municipal Corporation Durg, Municipal Council Ahiwara and Bemetara, Municipal Panchayat Ambagarh-Chowki and Municipal Council Kondagaon will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 8 am. Will be from 5 pm to 5 pm. And the counting of votes and the declaration of results will take place on Friday, June 30.
18 candidates in fray for councilor election
It may be noted that nomination papers were received from June 2 to June 9 for the post of vacant councilor of municipalities. Scrutiny of nomination papers was completed on June 10 and withdrawal process was completed by 3 pm on June 12. According to the information received from the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission, a total of 33 candidates had filed nomination papers for the 9 vacant posts of councillors. Under the investigation process, 2 nomination papers were canceled. After the withdrawal of names by 12 candidates on June 12, now a total of 18 candidates will be in the fray.
Voting will be held in the three-tier panchayat elections from 7 am to 3 pm
Similarly, after the withdrawal of nominations under the ongoing election process for the vacant posts of three-tier panchayats, a situation of unopposed election has been created for 304 posts of panch, 22 for sarpanch and 2 posts of district member. For election among 361 candidates for 144 posts of Panch, 166 for 50 posts of Sarpanch, 8 for 3 seats of Janpad member and 2 candidates for vacant one seat of District Panchayat member on Tuesday, June 27 from 7 am onwards Voting will be held till 3 pm and the results will be announced on June 30.
The situation of unopposed victory in this ward
Let us tell you that not even a single nomination letter has been received for 161 seats for the post of panch, 25 for sarpanch and 2 seats for district member of three-tier panchayats. Similarly, a total of 3 nominations were filed for the post of councilor of vacant ward number 6 of Khongapani Nagar Panchayat of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district. Due to cancellation of nomination papers of 02 candidates during the scrutiny of nomination papers, the situation of unopposed election has been created here.
