There is not a single Muslim candidate from BJP and Congress in Rajasthan, what is the reason?


Rajasthan Lok Sabha Election 2024: Voting will be held in the first phase on 12 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan. For which complete preparation has been done. This time there is no Muslim candidate from BJP and Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. Whereas, every time some Muslim candidate is in the fray from Congress.

However, even with great enthusiasm, no one could win. If we look at the figures, Congress has elected Maqbool Mandelia from Churu in 2009 and former cricketer Mohd. from Tonk-Sawaimadhopur in 2014. Azharuddin and in 2019, Rafiq Mandelia was given ticket from Churu.

All three had lost the election by a huge margin of votes. Congress has been fielding a Muslim candidate but has not fielded a single candidate in the first phase. Congress sources say that this time the Muslim candidates themselves did not want to contest the elections. However, second-time Congress MLA from Adarshnagar Rafiq Khan wanted to contest elections from Jaipur. But, he did not get the ticket.

What do the figures say?

So far in Rajasthan, Congress has fielded 9-10 Muslim leaders as candidates in the Lok Sabha 13 times. Congress had fielded Mehboob Ali from Bikaner. Maqbool Mandelia from Churu in 2009, former cricketer Mohd. from Tonk-Sawaimadhopur in 2014. Azharuddin and Rafiq Mandelia were given tickets from Churu in 2019 but they lost all the elections.

Congress had given ticket to Dr. Abrar Ahmed in the year 1999 against Vasundhara Raje and he lost the election. Ayub Khan had won elections from Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha seat on Congress ticket in 1984 and 1991. Apart from him, no Muslim has been able to win the election.

Direct impact on many seats

If statistics are to be believed, the minority population in Rajasthan is more than 11.4%. Muslim population is up to 17% in 11 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state. Despite this, both Congress and BJP parties are not fielding a Muslim candidate from any seat. However, BSP has given ticket to a strong Muslim face from Alwar. Voting will be held on April 19 for the first phase of 12 seats in Ganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur City, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli Dholpur, Dausa and Nagaur.
