Adani Case: India’s Foreign Ministry today gave information on the allegations of bribery imposed by the US Justice Department on Adani Group. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that no request has been received from America to summon Adani Group in the bribery case. He also said that the allegations against top executives of Adani Group are a matter between the private firm and individuals along with the US Justice Department.
In the weekly press briefing, Randhir Jaiswal said that there are established procedures and legal channels through which the action to be taken on the case depends and India also hopes to find a way forward in this case through the same proper process. He also said that the Government of India was not given any advance information in this matter.
what is the whole process
If any foreign government issues summons or arrest warrant for Indian citizens, then there is a complete legal process to look into it which runs under Mutual Understanding and Legal Assistance between the two countries. Such applications/recommendations are served on merit basis and we have not received any such application from the US.
Randhir Jaiswal said that this matter is between private individuals and private entities and the Central Government/Government of India is not involved in its investigation process or any other action at any point at this time. In its latest reply, Adani Group has again termed the allegations of bribery made by the Securities and Exchange Commission of America as wrong.
