Dr. Shantanu Sarkar, Director of Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation and Management Center (ULMMC) said that there is a need to be cautious during the rainy season in landslide prone areas in the state. He also expressed the need for the concerned departments to expedite mitigation and management measures for all such areas.
Dr. Bikram Singh, Director of Dehradun Meteorological Center, said that making shelters (a kind of tunnel) on the road in landslide prone areas is a good option and said that the debris will fall on top of the shelter and the traffic will continue to run normally below the shelter.
