Karnataka Village Violence: Tension prevailed in a village in Karnataka’s Haveri district when several villagers attacked houses and buildings of a community. The people of the village were afraid that the Waqf Board might take over their houses.
According to the report of Times of India, five people were injured in this incident which took place on Wednesday (30 October) night. Police said that the situation has now become normal in Kadakol village of Savanur taluk. A person who was seriously injured in the violence was taken to KIMS, Hubli for treatment and is now out of danger.
200 policemen deployed, 32 people detained
The miscreants allegedly threw stones and vandalized houses. They also destroyed motorcycles parked in the village. About 200 policemen and four contingents of KSRP have been deployed in the village. District Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar said that the police will take action against the people involved in the incident. He said that 32 people have been detained for investigation.
Waqf Minister accused BJP of spoiling the atmosphere
Waqf Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan accused BJP of hatching a conspiracy around Waqf properties and said the party was misleading farmers. He said that Kadakol village, where there has never been any communal riot, is very painful and farmers need not panic as we will never take away their land.
What is the matter?
There were rumors that most of the properties around a temple in the village have been marked as Waqf property and will soon be acquired. However, Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh clarified that he has directed assistant commissioners and tehsildars to “verify all the property documents listed on behalf of the District Waqf Board and send a report to the office. This means that all these properties belonging to the Waqf Board will be verified.” Are not.”
