IPL 2023 Playoff Scenario After SRH vs RCB Match: Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the match played on 18 May. Chasing the target of 187 runs, RCB got off to a one-sided start by captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli giving an excellent 172-run start. Now with this victory, there has been a lot of increase in the chances of RCB reaching the playoffs.
After the win against Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB now has 14 points after 13 matches. The team has now directly reached the fourth position in the points table due to better net run rate than Mumbai Indians. RCB have to play their last league match against Gujarat Titans, who have already qualified for the playoffs, on May 21, which is also the last league match of this season.
The defeat of Chennai, Lucknow or Mumbai will make the road for RCB easier
After Gujarat Titans qualified in the playoffs, there is a fierce battle between Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore for the remaining 3 spots. CSK and Lucknow currently have 15-15 points and if either of these two teams lose their last league match, it will make it a bit easier for RCB to make it to the playoffs. Even in this situation, it will be very important for the team to win their last league match.
Mumbai Indians also have 14 points but they are at 5th position in the points table after RCB. Now if Mumbai wins their last league match, then RCB will also have to enter their last league match keeping all the equations in mind. On the other hand, if Mumbai loses its last league match, it will end the season on 14 points. After this, RCB can qualify for the playoffs despite losing their last league match as their net runrate is still in plus.
