Khatauli Assembly By Election: The campaigning for the by-election to be held on December 5 in Khatauli assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar district ended today at 5:00 pm. On the last day of the election campaign, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and BJP (BJP) gave their full strength. BJP fielded senior leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to woo Muslim voters. After addressing the minority conference in Sarai Rasulpur village, Naqvi did vigorous public relations. BJP has made Rajkumari Saini a candidate from Khatauli assembly seat. Before the next year’s general elections, the by-election is being said to have a psychological effect. Khatauli town was the epicenter of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. BJP is trying to retain the seat.
The noise of election campaign stopped
The ruling party BJP is facing a tough challenge from the SP-RLD alliance. Congress and BSP have distanced themselves from Khatauli by-election. That’s why there is a direct fight between the BJP and the SP-RLD alliance. The Khatauli assembly seat fell vacant after BJP MLA Vikram Singh Saini was convicted. The district court had sentenced Vikram Singh Saini to two years imprisonment in a 2013 riots case. RLD candidate Madan Bhaiya had won the last election about 15 years ago.
