Joe Root Test Centuries: Joe Root continues to break records in Test cricket. Now he has scored a century in the second test being played in Wellington. By scoring 106 runs in the second innings, he has equaled Rahul Dravid in terms of scoring most centuries in Test matches. This was the 36th century of Joe Root’s Test career and the sixth in the year 2024. This innings of Root has also proved to be match winning in the second test of the series.
Joe Root has now come fifth in terms of scoring most centuries in Test cricket with 36 centuries. In this list, only Sachin Tendulkar (51), Jacques Kallis (45), Ricky Ponting (41) and Kumar Sangakkara (38) are ahead of him. This century of Root also became memorable because when he was playing after scoring 98 runs, he took a big risk and played a scoop shot. Luckily the ball hit the bat and went backwards over the wicketkeeper. In this way he completed his century by scoring fours.

During this test match, Joe Root became the first player from England and the fourth player in the world to score fifty or more runs 100 times in test matches. The record for scoring 50 or more runs most times in Test cricket is in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who did so 119 times in his career.
England leads 2-0 in the series
In this test match, England’s first innings was all out for 280 runs, while in reply New Zealand could score only 125 runs. The match was completely in England’s favor and the batsmen did the rest. In the second innings, Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethel played innings of 92 and 96 runs respectively. Joe Root’s century innings did the rest. The Kiwi team, which came to chase the huge target of 583 runs, was all out for 259 runs. Captain Ben Stokes took maximum three wickets for England. With winning the match, England is now 2-0 ahead in the three-Test series.
