there was a dispute before
This is not the first time that there is a controversy regarding the film. Even before this, the film is accused of being propaganda and misleading. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had given a strong reaction on ‘The Kashmir Files’ regarding this.
After watching the film, he said, “The whole film focuses on only one family, but in the end the main protagonist emphasizes that not only Hindus, people of different religions including Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs were also killed. But this film has been made only to give a political message that only Kashmiri Pandits were displaced. Half truth has been shown in the film. It is not fair to show one side in the film.” Not only this, continuous half truth on the film. There have been allegations of showing and showing only one main class.
Vivek Agnihotri gave this clarification
Vivek Agnihotri clarified the controversy surrounding the film and said, “Some groups are using Kashmir as a business. Our film has tried to end it. So, those who benefit from it happened, they are trying to create controversy. But there can be no controversy on terrorism.”
Agnihotri said, “We have tried to show that when extremism enters a community and is given ideological support from a section of the society, it leads to disaster.” He said that his film was “completely based on facts”.
Anupam Kher gave this statement
On November 23, the film’s lead actor Anupam Kher said about ‘The Kashmir Files’ that it helped people around the world to become aware of the tragedy that happened to the Kashmiri Pandit community in the 1990s.
He had said, “This is a film based on true events. Film director Vivek Agnihotri interviewed around 500 people from across the world for the film. Five lakh Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave their homes in the Kashmir Valley on the night of January 19, 1990, following escalating violence.” And the memories had to be let go. As a Kashmiri Hindu, I lived with the tragedy. But nobody was recognizing the tragedy. The world was trying to hide the tragedy.”
