Child Cancer Hospital in Bihar: The country’s first dedicated hospital for children suffering from cancer is being built in Patna, the capital of Bihar. This hospital is located between Mahavir Cancer Institute and AIIMS Patna in Phulwarisharif under Mahavir Mandir Trust. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone of this state-of-the-art hospital on Thursday (December 12).

Acharya Kishore Kunal, founder of the hospital and chairman of Mahavir Mandir Trust, informed that this hospital will have 100 beds and children will be treated completely free of cost. This is the first hospital of its kind in the country, which will be dedicated to children suffering from cancer.

Acharya Kishore Kunal said, “In November 2005, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had envisioned a special hospital for children. Since then, a ward for children is being operated in Mahavir Cancer Institute, but now this initiative has been taken towards building a full-fledged hospital.

Hospital construction and operation

The building of the first cancer hospital for children being built in Patna will be six storeyed, which is likely to take two years to complete. However, efforts are being made to start the treatment by next year.

Kishore Kunal expressed concern over the problem of cancer.

Acharya Kishore Kunal said, “The problem of cancer in children is increasing rapidly, which is very worrying.” Through this hospital, relief will be provided to those families who are unable to afford expensive treatment.
