Protests in Tibet against China: The spark burning against China’s occupation of Tibet has now started turning into a fire. In the beginning of this year, there was a huge demonstration against China in Tibet. BBC has also given information about this demonstration in its report. This kind of protest is very rare in Tibet. Seven decades ago, the Communist government of China occupied Tibet in the 1950s. Since then, China’s strict law is in force in Tibet. However, despite such strictness, such a huge protest in Tibet testifies that the people of Tibet are no longer ready to tolerate the atrocities of China.
What is the reason behind the protests in Tibet?,
BBC, in its report quoting Tibetan sources, has confirmed this major protest, which started over the dam being built in Tibet. Actually, China is going to build a dam in the sensitive area of Tibet, against which the people of Tibet have expressed strong protest. According to the report, China launched a large-scale repression campaign to stop this protest. Under this, hundreds of Tibetan people were arrested and tortured. Many leaked videos have also surfaced proving the truth of Chinese atrocities in Tibet.
Tibetan culture will be drowned by Chinese dam
According to BBC report, Chinese officials are planning to build Gangtu Dam and Hydro Power Plant. It is also called Kamtok in Tibetan. This proposed project of China is in the valley spread in Dege and Jiangda. It was told that after the dam is built, its lake will submerge a culturally and religiously important area for Tibetans. In which Tibet also includes many holy monasteries. Apart from this, thousands of Tibetans will have to be displaced due to the construction of this dam. However, after orders from the authorities in February 2024, local residents and Buddhist monks decided to protest.
